How can I improve my school?

In Chicago, parents don't just attend the school — they help run it. Local School Councils approve budgets, shape improvement plans, and choose principals. And parents hold more council seats than anyone else.

Looking at
A different kind of governance

This school doesn't have a Local School Council — by design.

How this school is governed

Charter and contract schools are public schools run by independent organizations, and Illinois law gives them a different structure: instead of an elected Local School Council, each one answers to its own board of directors. That's why there's no LSC roster or election here — it isn't missing data, it's how these schools work.

You still have a voice

Most charter schools have a parent advisory council, parent-teacher organization, or family association — and board meetings include time for the public. Ask the front office how parents take part in big decisions here, and how to join in.

Coming soon

Chicago now elects its Board of Education by district. We're working on showing you who represents this school's area on the school board — and how to reach them. Check back here.
